Cody W There's one thing that I really want to say about EIGHT BELOW, and I think everybody is going to love what I am going to say. These dogs are the real heroes. No question about it. Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/09/24 Full Review Allison S The acting sucks. All of the actors are absolutely horrible and unbearable to watch. However, I recommend watching it how my sister and I do - we fast forward to watch just the parts with the dogs. 1/10 for the humans, 10/10 for the dogs. Rated 2.5/5 Stars • Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/06/24 Full Review Ravi T I actually really enjoyed this movie. It's not an amazing movie by any means...but there's something about dogs and snow that really gets me. Rated 4.5/5 Stars • Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 10/28/23 Full Review Rob A An outstanding tearjerker and must see, especially for animal lovers. The late Paul Walker gives an excellent performance, and Bruce Greenwood does his thing. How they got such great acting out of the dogs (stranded in Antarctica for a year, struggling to survive) I have no idea! Stream it today, but don't forget the kleenex... Rated 4/5 Stars • Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/21/23 Full Review Liam N Top 10 underrated Disney movie of alltime. This winter flick also contains a Hidden gem preformance from the late Paul walker. 8.1/10 Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/06/23 Full Review jacob b You know, watching this movie taught me something. Mainly that Disney's rationalisation that "the animals only have two facial expressions because it's realistic" in their "live-action" remake of The Lion King was bull. Wanna know why? Because these real, well-trained dogs who aren't anthropomorphic, don't speak and don't do anything overly cartoony nor are they replaced by animatronics or CGI from a family-oriented survival drama from 2006 did a much better job expressing their emotions than a "we're embarrassed to call it animated" movie from 2019 with more advanced technology. Long story short, Eight Below is really good. The runtime could've perhaps been trimmed a bit since hey, we want to see the huskies' survival and some of the human scenes when they return to America feel pointless before the late Paul Walker goes to New Zealand, but overall, this is an exciting, well-shot and even poignant adventure that has you come to care about these dogs and also functions as a good showcase for visual storytelling since roughly half of the movie is without dialogue. Disney beat Pixar to the punch regarding a movie that has roughly 50% of the film bereft of dialogue. Take that, WALL-E! A solid introduction to survival dramas for audiences who desire something darker and with more dramatic weight than Madagascar but too young for the likes of Cast Away.
